My 29th year of life has officially begun (hey! hey! to my fellow Virgos); when I was younger I used to think by 29 I would be married and living it up lmao, I never thought about kids back then so I can’t say married with kids lol. Now I’m like … shit I’m nowhere near married and living it up like I really want to lol.
Why did I think by a certain age I would have had everything I wanted?
I kept asking myself if I should do a birthday blog because I’m not really into birthdays and I have nothing exciting to post, but since I’m a blogger I figured why not share with my readers important things I’ve learned so far, so I ended up writing a post lol. I feel like I’m having a bit of anxiety just because it is the age before the big 30 and I haven’t accomplished all that I would have liked but oh well I guess that’s life.
I figured I’d compile a little list of some of the most important things I’ve learned thus far.
1. RELAX AND DON’T WORRY TOO MUCH
Looking back, I should have relaxed much more, especially because I am an over-thinker and it only stresses me out. Everything always turns out fine in the end once you remain positive and in some cases proactive. Once you work hard and stay focused, you will eventually find your way. It’s not a straightforward process especially for me, but I’m glad I made the right decisions to just do what I had to. Relax and don’t worry too much!
2. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GREAT PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE YOU
Surrounding yourself with people who inspire you is KEY, if you want to achieve greatness in business and life. Positive energy and vibe are essential.
3. LOVE YOUR FAMILY
Family should always come first, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Sometimes it’s hard to find the time for everything, especially when you’re building a life, career and sometimes business and want to make more of an impact in the world with what you do. It’s all about finding the right balance and working on the right things at the right time. One of my closest cousins died earlier this year and I was so hurt and sometimes to this day it feels very surreal but at least I have amazing memories from our childhood and even adulthood. She always inspired me with how pure-hearted she was and I always wanted to be like her.
4. EXERCISE DAILY
I personally really like to do my workout right after I get up in the morning, to jump start the day but that has since changed. Every day I do that I feel amazing, and I tend to get much more done! What I love about fitness and working out, is that you are in complete control. If you’re unhappy with the way you look and feel, you can change it by working out regularly and forming this habit of showing up every day. Show up and you will see results…I can promise you that!
5. PLAN TOMORROW TODAY
This has changed my life tremendously. I occasionally struggle with it, but I’m getting much better, because I know how important it is for my productivity. The day’s I don’t plan my day the night before, I feel overwhelmed and I don’t know what I should focus on as much, and I tend to be all over the place instead.
6. CUT THE SHIT & DON’T FEEL BAD ABOUT IT
At this point in my life where I only have so much energy to give. Most of it goes into working out, hobbies, reading, traveling, business, work, family, friendships etc. And usually; there’s really nothing left after that. This means I have no energy, & I MEAN NO ENERGY, to give to toxicity. Toxic friendships or relationships to include work are out. I don’t even question it anymore- if it doesn’t feel right, it’s out. Nothing against anyone, it’s just that I simply don’t have energy for negativity. I have learnt to just cut it, I have no interest in wasting energy on relationships that are unhealthy. Anyone else?
7. NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO LIKE ME & THAT’S OK
I’m not for everyone, you know? I like to think that I’m an acquired taste. Sometimes you connect with people and sometimes you don’t. For those of you who have not connected with me, put those blinders on and block out those opinions because that is what I do.
8. YOU ARE GOING TO GET CRITICIZED NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, SO DO YOUR THANG
No matter where I’ve been in life, people have criticized me. If I had listened to every piece of negative feedback, I’d be at home all the time being anti-social and boring…even if some say I’m boring lol. We’ve all been criticized at one time or another. You gotta do what you gotta do, and either way someone, somewhere will have something to say. If you don’t want to be criticized, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing and sometimes even then you are still criticized.
That basically sums up things that I have learnt so far. I am actually looking forward to seeing Year 29 and what it has in-store for me. I do hope that it’s a wonderful year and of course I plan to take my readers along with me.
Ohh and thanks to all who wished me a Happy Birthday….Love y’all.
